Why RE-U-ZIP® Was Created
At RE-U-ZIP®, we identified a critical need for reliable and cost-effective dust barrier entry solutions, particularly in environments where existing disposable options were inadequate. Contractors in these critical environments were burdened with low-quality, wasteful disposable products that were costly both monetarily and environmentally. Motivated by their challenges, we set out to revolutionize dust containment, beginning with the problematic disposable dust barrier zipper.
Reinventing the Dust Barrier Zipper
Our goal was to design a zipper system that meets the stringent demands of critical environments while remaining cost-effective for all contractors and industries requiring dust control. Disposable zippers, often plagued by poor material quality and functionality, tend to jam, break, or detach from the dust barrier, compromising containment. They also lack safeguards, as broken zippers cannot be easily removed or replaced. Recognizing the need for a more durable solution, we developed our patented Hook & Loop Reusable Dust Barrier Zipper System.
Our innovative hook-and-loop design allows for easy removal and reuse. Only the adhesive loop “Mounting Strip Re-Fill™” is discarded when the job is complete, while the primary zipper component can be detached and stored for future use, significantly reducing consumable costs and waste. This system also enables quick and easy zipper replacement, providing a critical safeguard in sensitive environments. Additionally, we incorporated a security feature that allows the zipper to be locked, using a grommet to secure the zipper head with a zip tie or cable lock, deterring unauthorized access to the job site.
Why Stop There: The Game-Changing Entry Strip™
While zippered dust barriers are essential in certain situations, we recognized that contractors often find them inconvenient and inefficient, particularly when their hands are full. To address this, we developed a self-closing solution specifically designed for critical environments. Existing self-closing options were limited and expensive, so we created the world’s first Magnetic Entry Strip—a magnetic version of our reusable dust barrier zipper, utilizing the same patented hook-and-loop system.
Unlike other self-closing products that are restricted by fixed sizes and materials, the RE-U-ZIP® Reusable Magnetic Entry Strip™ allows you to create a hands-free, self-closing opening in the plastic barrier of your choice. This versatile solution enhances job site efficiency, and it’s more cost-effective and easier to set up than traditional prefabricated door kits. The RE-U-ZIP® Magnetic Entry Strip reliably maintains a seal over 5 Pascals of air pressure, setting a new standard for self-closing entries in critical dust barriers.
A Clearly Better Option: Ultra-Clear Fire Rated Barrier Panels
Born out of the recent pandemic, many of our solutions were designed to make containment in tenant-occupied projects more versatile, safer, convenient, and aesthetically pleasing. One such innovation is our cut-to-size ultra-clear fire-rated barrier panels, which can be paired with the Magnetic Entry Strip or Reusable Dust Barrier Zippers. This option has been widely used in medical facilities and adopted by contractors for tenant-occupied remodeling projects, offering clients a significantly improved experience.

RE-U-ZIP co-founder Kanna has an extensive business development background that includes commercial and residential brokerage, commercial build-outs, QSR store development, franchising, and product development, which he puts to work on behalf of our company every day.
Through his role as CEO, Kanna connects with people in the industries we serve and helps form long-lasting business relationships for our company.
A serial entrepreneur with 17 years of experience in commercial real estate investment, franchising, and venture capital, co-founder Ramu channels many talents into his role as RE-U-ZIP’s Chief Operations Officer.
Specializing in operations, marketing, and brand development, Ramu has been instrumental in getting our company to where it is today and looks forward to the companies growing success.

As a licensed general contractor specializing in the emergency restoration, reconstruction, and remodeling industry for the past 19+ years, RE-U-ZIP® CO-founder Eric brought a world of relevant first-hand experience while helping to establish the company.
